Meet the team
Gavin R. Quinlan
Having worked within the company as a shop floor operative and driver during school and university holidays, Gavin joined Cover Structure full time after graduating in 1994 with a Masters Degree from the University of Glasgow.
Equipped with a talent for achieving sales growth and profitability against substantial competition, in May 2011 Gavin was appointed managing director, succeeding his father, Frank Quinlan upon his retirement.
In his rise to MD, Gavin predominantly concentrated his energies on the manufacturing arm of the business, but also worked as the company contracts coordinator, as well as managing various contracts. With a strong grounding in all aspects of the enterprise, from the shop floor to the boardroom, Gavin is perfectly placed to oversee the day-to-day running of the business, including all procurement. His role in driving the business forward and ensuring clients receive the very best from all departments, at all times, is also key to Gavin’s continuing success.
Outside of the business, Gavin, a type 1 diabetic of 20 years, has run two London Marathons and Trekked to Everest Base Camp raising money “for the cause”. Gavin’s other interests include reading, music and attending the theatre; being a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company.
Paul began his working life as a junior draughtsman at a structural steel engineering company. Spending six working years within the steel building industry he then progressed into the architectural glazing industry for a further five years, during this time securing an ONC in Civil Engineering.
His strong experience within these two industries proved to be a real asset when he joined Cover Structure. Indeed it was Paul who introduced Vitral Roof Glazing into the company, with which the company has had great success over the past 15 years.
Joining Cover Structure in April 1996 he developed from senior draughtsman, to drawing office manager in 2001. The role within the drawing office saw Paul progress into the estimating department and, in May 2011, he was appointed commercial director at Cover Structure.
In 1976, John started what would be a long and fruitful career in the roofing sector. Initially working for Cover Structure founder Frank Quinlan as an estimator, John then went on to work for various roofing contractors as contracts supervisor, surveyor, and finally, managing director.
John returned to Cover Structure in 2013 as estimating director and brings with him a wealth of skills, knowledge and experience.
With a continual drive to develop his knowledge base, John is a member of the Institute of Roofing and holds an ONC and HNC in Building Studies and Surveying.
David graduated from Nottingham Trent University in 1993 and began his professional career as an assistant quantity surveyor for a structural steelwork engineering company. He quickly established himself within the business and progressed to looking after multi-million pound prestigious projects throughout the United Kingdom and also in Singapore.
In 2002, he joined a curtain walling, windows and doors company and introduced and managed the quantity surveying department as the Commercial Manager for a period of 11 years.
He subsequently gained rain-screen and cladding experience before joining Cover Structure Ltd in the summer of 2015. His dedication and knowledge of contractual and surveying aspects over the last 23 years has assisted him in becoming the companies Commercial Director.
